The rapid rise of artificial intelligence (AI) in cybercrime is becoming a significant concern for law enforcement agencies in India and across the globe. AI is being used to automate and enhance cybercriminal activities, making it more difficult for traditional policing methods to keep up.

In India, scam call centers, often employing young students, are increasingly relying on AI tools such as automated dial systems and voice modulation techniques to deceive foreign victims, especially in the US and Australia. These operations are highly organized, using VPNs and anonymous data sellers to evade detection. Despite occasional crackdowns, corruption and legal loopholes allow many criminals to escape with minimal punishment.

The complexity of AI models, the use of third-party data, and the automation of fraud make it challenging to detect and prosecute offenders. Experts argue that international collaboration, increased cybercrime education, and more robust data protection laws are essential to combat the growing threat of AI-driven cybercrime. Furthermore, the introduction of AI tools like "FraudGPT" has made it even harder for law enforcement to stay ahead of these ever-evolving tactics.

While some private investigators expose these operations, they lack the legal authority to take action, leaving the responsibility to law enforcement agencies that need to modernize their strategies
