Governor Spencer Cox highlighted the collaborative effort between government and industry to balance innovation and consumer protection. Led by Professor Zach Boyd, the office will initially focus on generative AI in mental healthcare, addressing issues like data privacy and healthcare shortages. The office will also handle regulatory mitigation, allowing companies to temporarily deploy new AI technologies. ElizaChat, a company providing mental health support for teenagers, is the first to seek regulatory relief. Additionally, the office will recommend legislative actions to manage AI's power consumption and its environmental impact.
