AI Law - International Review of Artificial Intelligence Law

AI LAW Journal

The events of recent years have made artificial intelligence one of the most current and relevant topics in contemporary society. The legal implications stemming from this development are so vast and complex that it almost makes it unnecessary to explain the reasons behind the decision to create a journal dedicated to the challenges every regulatory system will face in this domain. Furthermore, with the approval of the AI Act, a discipline of significant practical importance is now devoted to this subject, though not without gaps and challenges.

It is against this backdrop that "AI LAW - International Review of Artificial Intelligence Law" (To be cited: AILAW) has been established.

The Review, designed in accordance with the scientific parameters set by ANVUR (Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes), will be available through open access, in both HTML and PDF formats. It will adhere to the rigor and methodology of academic publications while maintaining a strong international, multilingual, and interdisciplinary character.

The adoption of an international perspective appears to be an inevitable approach, as the issues raised by the use of artificial intelligence systems transcend geographical boundaries and necessitate the interconnection of national legal systems. These systems are called upon to provide answers that are as common, shared, and coordinated as possible. In this context, the decision to publish scientific contributions in the most widely spoken languages in the Western world (English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, and Italian) becomes even more significant, as it will further propel the Review towards open and expanded dialogue. Moreover, overcoming disciplinary boundaries – often scholastic and artificial – should be a commitment that requires constant attention, with the aim of creating productive intersections and integration from which the greatest progress in the study of this subject can be expected. While this subject is indeed investigated from a legal perspective, it is always heavily influenced – especially in the current historical moment – by a strong need for an ethical-philosophical evaluation of the most appropriate regulatory solutions.

The works published in the AILAW Review will undergo double-blind peer review prior to publication. For publication purposes, authors are not required to pay any fee.

The Review's access portal will also feature a blog that aims to serve as a natural complement to the Review, providing informative content and timely updates. The blog will also have a professional content approach, offering a platform for diverse interdisciplinary contributions. These contributions will be dedicated to adapting on a daily basis to a constantly evolving reality. The AI Law Blog aspires to be the lifeblood from which the Review can draw constant nourishment and inspiration for more in-depth reflections.

As we await the first issue of the Review, we thought it would be appreciated by our readers to make the AI LAW Blog's contents available immediately.
